How to set up payment methods for selling your courses

Setting up payment reminders and payment methods such as credit card, SEPA direct debit, Giro Pay, Apple Pay or Google Pay for participants

Once you've linked reteach with your Stripe account, you can independently enable payment methods such as credit card, SEPA direct debit, bank transfer, Giropay or Klarna in the E-Commerce settings.

The payment method settings in your Stripe account do not directly affect the payment methods reteach uses for your academy.

Credit Card Payment Method

When ordering with a credit card, the buyer will be prompted to enter their credit card details during the checkout process. The payment is processed immediately, and the order is only completed upon successful payment. The credit card information is saved in the buyer's profile for future purchases.

To allow credit card payments, no additional steps are required besides enabling it in the E-Commerce settings.

SEPA Direct Debit Payment Method

To enable SEPA direct debit payments, you must first activate the option for your participants in your reteach account under payment methods. Then, activate it in your integrated Stripe account under Settings -> Payment Methods.

For details on how to add the SEPA direct debit method in Stripe, click HERE. After configuring it, your customers can pay via SEPA direct debit by providing their IBAN and account holder name when ordering your course. You can view the order later in your Stripe account.

Bank Transfer Payment Method

To enable bank transfer payments, first, activate the option for your participants in your reteach account under payment methods. Then, activate it in Stripe under Settings -> Payment Methods.

This method works through virtual IBANs provided by Stripe, giving each customer a unique IBAN.

Note: Bank transfer is a delayed payment method. The customer must transfer the amount to the provided bank account. The order is only completed once the payment is received.

Tip: Enable the email notification "Send payment instructions via email" for your customers under Settings -> Customer Emails.

Klarna Payment Method

With Klarna, your customers can choose between installment payments, bank transfer, SEPA direct debit, and pay later.

Klarna's installment plan allows your customers to customize their payment plan according to their needs, spreading the cost over up to 24 months in fixed or flexible installments.

"Pay later" gives your customers 30 days to settle the invoice, free of charge and with one click.

Please also activate Klarna in your Stripe Dashboard. A Klarna account is not necessary.

Giropay Payment Method

Most banks participate in Giropay. You can allow your participants to log in to their online banking through Giropay and transfer the amount normally.

No additional steps are required to allow Giropay payments other than activating this option in the E-Commerce settings.

Apple Pay and Google Pay

To enable quick payments via Apple Pay or Google Pay for your participants, you only need to activate these payment methods in your Stripe checkout settings.

Sofort-Überweisung Payment Method

This payment method will soon be discontinued. Please disable it as soon as possible and replace it with an alternative like Klarna.

Invoice Creation and Delivery

Regardless of the selected payment method, an invoice is automatically generated for each order, which can be viewed in Stripe. The buyer can download it from their profile in the order history.

Tips for Configuring Stripe

  • By default, payment pages are enabled in new Stripe accounts. Disable them in the invoice template settings.
  • If "View test data" is enabled in the left menu column, you can safely create dummy invoices to test their appearance.
