How to prevent emails from being classified as spam

An invitation from reteach ends up in the junk folder - which is annoying. We show you how to prevent this.

Every day, numerous advertising and phishing emails are sent out. To prevent these from clogging up your inbox, email providers like Gmail, Outlook, 1&1, and others filter emails based on certain settings. To ensure that emails from reteach reach your inbox safely, you can do the following:

Add an SPF Record in Your Domain Management:

To ensure successful delivery of emails sent via reteach, it's recommended to set up or adjust an SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record. You can learn how the SPF record works here.

SPF is a method used to prevent email address spoofing, specifically by blocking the sending of emails through unauthorized Mail Transfer Agents.

Note: This concerns the domain of your email sender, not the academy domain.

If you don’t yet use an SPF record for your domain:

  1. Go to your domain provider, such as Strato, 1&1, Ionos, etc., and edit the DNS settings or DNS records of the sender domain.
  2. Create a new "TXT" record for the selected domain.
  3. Enter the following value for the TXT record: v=spf1 include:_spf.reteach.io -all
  4. You can verify if the record was set up correctly using this website: https://www.spf-record.de/spf-lookup.

If you already use an SPF record for your domain:

  • Extend the existing SPF record with include:_spf.reteach.io.

Example:

Your current SPF record looks like this:

v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com ~all

After the change, the SPF record should look like this:

v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com include:_spf.reteach.io ~all

Add DKIM Records in Your Domain Management:

To authenticate our sender on email servers, you’ll also need to add DKIM (Domain Keys Identified Mail) records for the same domain used in the SPF setup.

DKIM is a protocol that allows a message to be signed in a verifiable way, ensuring secure transmission. You can learn how to create this here:

  1. Contact our support team to request DKIM entries. They will provide you with the necessary records for your domain. You can reach our support team through the internal chat in reteach or via email at support@reteach.com.
  2. Next, log in to the DNS manager of your domain provider, such as Strato, 1&1, etc.
  3. Find the relevant domain and edit the one from which reteach will send emails.
  4. Enter the DKIM records we provided for the selected domain.

If emails still end up in the spam folder, let us know, and we will investigate the issue.
