How to change the sender of your mailings

Adjusting the sender of mailings to the participants

In order for your mailings and system-generated emails of your reteach academy to no longer be sent from "noreply@mail.reteach.io", but your own email address, you need to follow these three steps:

Important: To ensure reliable delivery of the emails sent via reteach from your own sender address, you need to not only enter and verify the email address (step 1), bu also set an SPF entry/adjust the pre-existing SPF entry (step 2) as well as creating a DKIM entry (step 3).

1. Entering your email address in the reteach system

Under Settings you can find the page Email. There, you can change the email address from which mailings and auto-generated messages are received in a few steps.

After entering your email, you need to verify it by clicking on the link in our automatically generated email.

2. Providing an SPF entry in your domain administration

The Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is a process which aims to prevent the faking of an email's sender address. In particular, the sending of emails via unlegitimised mail transfer agents is blocked.

Note: This refers to the domain of your email sender. This is not related to your academy's domain.

If you are not using an SPF entry for your domain yet:

1. Transfer to a domain provider such as Strato, 1&1, Ionos etc. and edit the DNS settings/DNS entries of your sender's domain there

2. Start a new entry of the type "TXT" for the selected domain.

3. As value for the TXT entry, enter "v=spf1 include:_spf.reteach.io -all".

4. Using the following website you can prove whether the entry has been added correctly: https://www.spf-record.de/spf-lookup

If you are already using an SPF entry for your domain:

Extend the existing entry with include:_spf.reteach.io.

Example:

Your SPF entry currently looks like this:

"v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com ~all"

After the changes, it should look like the following:

"v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com include:_spf.reteach.io ~all"

3. Providing a DKIM entry in your domain administration

In order for email servers to be able to authenticate your sender, DKIM entries have to be completed for the same domain used in step 2.

DKIM (Domain Keys Identified Mail) is a protocol which signs a message in a verifiable way and therefore ensures its secure transmission. This can be done by following these steps:

1. Message our support team that you would like to provide DKIM entries. We will then send you the required entries. You can easily reach support by using reteach's internal chat or via email under support@reteach.com.

2. Now enter the DNS manager of your domain provider such as Strato, 1&1, Ionos etc.

3. There you can find your domains. Edit the one with which reteach emails should be sent. Enter the entries we have sent for your selected domains there.

Now the new email sender of your academy is arranged.
