How to create a SCORM lesson

How SCORM contents and ready-made courses can be imported

1. What is SCORM?

If you want to offer online courses, are looking for an LMS, or are using an authoring tool, you've likely come across the acronym SCORM. SCORM stands for Sharable Content Object Reference Model, a technology that provides a standardized interface for online learning content. This means that when we create a learning unit or an entire course, we can package this content into a SCORM file, which can be read by SCORM-compliant systems. This allows, for example, a SCORM course to be transferred from one SCORM-compliant LMS to another without losing any information.

Reteach supports all common SCORM formats (AICC, SCORM 1.1, SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, Tin Can, and more).

2. How do I integrate SCORM content into my academy?

If you’ve already created content such as learning units (videos, tutorials, quizzes, assignments, etc.) or complete SCORM courses with any authoring tool, you can directly embed them into a lesson in your course.

First, navigate to your administration area, go to your course, and create a new lesson of the type SCORM Content.

In the lesson, you will find a field where you can drag and drop your SCORM content (Zip file) or select it directly from your desktop and upload it.

Finally, you have the option to set the aspect ratio of your SCORM content so that it displays correctly according to your specific content settings. To do this, simply click on the pencil icon below the file.

Important: If you want your participants to only complete the lesson with the SCORM course after fully completing the SCORM course itself, activate the mandatory lesson option on the right side of the lesson:
